How much headroom should I leave in my mixes for mastering?

 

We recommend leaving approximately 6 - 8 dB of headroom when preparing a mix for the mastering process.

 

 

Should I use buss compression on my mix?

 

There are two sides to every story, and we won't try to steer you in either direction.

If however, you are preparing stems for mastering while using buss compression  there are some things you should be aware of. The goal of buss compression is to have the entire mix both triggering and being affected by the compressor. How do you achieve this when rendering stems?
